These spooky witch finger pretzel rods are dipped in creamy white chocolate with an almond nail and red gel ‘blood’ for a creepy, delicious Halloween treat that’s quick and easy to make.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 standard 12-ounce bag pretzel rods (about 24 rods)
  • 2 cups white chocolate melting wafers or white chocolate chips (about 12 ounces)
  • 24 whole almonds or slivered almonds
  • 1 small tube red decorating gel or red icing

Instructions

  1. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or wax paper.
  2. Prepare the almonds: pick out 24 almonds roughly the same size and shape, with the pointed end facing outward.
  3. Melt the white chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals, stirring well after each, until smooth and glossy (about 1.5 to 2 minutes total).
  4. Dip each pretzel rod into the melted white chocolate, coating about two-thirds to three-quarters of the pretzel. Let excess drip off.
  5. Place the dipped pretzel on the parchment paper.
  6. Immediately press one almond into the tip of the pretzel (pointed end outward) to form a fingernail.
  7. Use a toothpick or small skewer to press 2-3 horizontal lines into the chocolate along the pretzel to create knobby knuckles.
  8. Add a tiny dab of red decorating gel at the base of the almond nail to look like blood.
  9. Repeat with remaining pretzels. If chocolate thickens, microwave for 10-15 seconds and stir.
  10. Let pretzels set at room temperature for 30-45 minutes, or refrigerate for 15-20 minutes until firm.

Notes

Don’t overheat white chocolate; it seizes easily. Work in small batches so chocolate stays wet for adding details. Chill pretzels before serving for a satisfying snap. For vegan version, use dairy-free white chocolate and check pretzels are vegan.
