A budget-friendly, no-cook charcuterie board designed for two people, featuring a curated selection of cheeses, cured meats, fruits, nuts, and sweet and briny accompaniments. Perfect for an intimate date night at home.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 ounces soft cheese (brie or camembert)
  • 4 ounces hard cheese (aged cheddar or gouda)
  • 4 ounces cured meat (salami, prosciutto, or soppressata)
  • 8–10 crackers or crostini
  • Small handful of nuts (almonds, walnuts, or pistachios)
  • 1/2 cup fresh fruit (grapes, apple slices, or figs)
  • 1 tablespoon honey or fruit preserves
  • 1/4 cup olives or cornichons
  • Fresh herbs or edible flowers (optional)
  • 1–2 squares dark chocolate

Instructions

  1. Take cheese out of fridge 30 minutes before serving. Wash grapes and slice apple (if using); toss apple slices with lemon juice to prevent browning.
  2. Choose a board or platter (wooden cutting board or white ceramic plate). Place it on the table or counter where you’ll be eating.
  3. Place small bowls (ramekins) for olives and honey/jam at opposite ends of the board for visual balance.
  4. Add the cheese: place soft cheese in the center or slightly off-center; cut hard cheese into small cubes or thin slices and arrange nearby.
  5. Fan out the meat: fold salami or prosciutto into ribbons or rolls and arrange in a small pile or line.
  6. Fill in with fruit and nuts: scatter grapes in small clusters, add a pile of almonds or walnuts in an empty corner.
  7. Add crackers in a neat pile or fan them out like playing cards.
  8. Drizzle honey over soft cheese, garnish with herbs, and tuck dark chocolate pieces in unexpected spots.
  9. Step back and adjust: fill empty spots with extra nuts or grapes, spread out clumps. The board should look abundant but not crowded.

Notes

Let cheese come to room temperature for best flavor and texture. Use discount cheese from the dairy section for savings. Swap ingredients based on what’s on hand or in season. For a vegetarian version, omit meat and add extra cheese or marinated mushrooms.
