Festive Firecracker Jello Shots with Vodka

- 3 oz (85 g) Cherry Jello Mix
- 3 oz (85 g) Lime Jello Mix
- 3 oz (85 g) Blue Raspberry Jello Mix
- 1 ½ cups (360 ml) Vodka
- 3 cups (720 ml) Boiling Water
- 1 ½ cups (360 ml) Cold Water
- Non-stick spray or oil (optional, for greasing shot cups)
- Fresh fruit pieces for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the Cherry Layer: Boil 1 cup (240 ml) of water. Pour it into a mixing bowl with the cherry jello powder and whisk until fully dissolved (about 2 minutes). Add ½ cup (120 ml) vodka and ½ cup (120 ml) cold water, stir gently. Pour into your shot cups, filling about one-third of each. Chill in the fridge for 30-40 minutes until firm but slightly tacky to the touch.
- Prepare the Lime Layer: Repeat the process with lime jello: dissolve in 1 cup boiling water, add ½ cup vodka and ½ cup cold water. Once the cherry layer is tacky, gently pour the lime mixture over it, filling another third of the cup. Return to the fridge for another 30-40 minutes.
- Prepare the Blue Raspberry Layer: Dissolve the blue raspberry jello in 1 cup boiling water, then add ½ cup vodka and ½ cup cold water. Pour this layer carefully on top of the lime layer, filling the cups to the brim. Chill for at least 2 hours until fully set.
- Serve: Once firm, serve directly in the cups or pop out if using silicone molds. Keep refrigerated until ready to enjoy.
Notes
Pour each layer slowly over the back of a spoon to avoid mixing colors. Chill each layer until tacky before adding the next to keep layers distinct. Use good-quality vodka for smooth flavor. If shots are too soft, reduce vodka slightly or add more gelatin powder. Shots keep well refrigerated for up to 3 days but are best fresh.
