Easy Spooky Mummy Hot Dogs Recipe

mummy hot dogs - featured image

A quick and fun Halloween snack featuring hot dogs wrapped in crescent dough strips to look like mummies, baked to golden perfection with mustard or ketchup eyes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • Hot dogs (regular, beef, turkey, or veggie)
  • 1 can (8 ounces) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • Mustard or ketchup (for eyes)
  • Optional: cheese slices (cheddar or mozzarella)
  • Optional: sesame seeds or poppy seeds for topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  2. Unroll the crescent dough onto a clean surface. Cut the dough into thin strips about 1/4 inch (0.6 cm) wide.
  3. Wrap each hot dog with the crescent dough strips, leaving a small gap near one end for the eyes. Overlap strips unevenly to mimic mummy bandages. Optionally, tuck in cheese slices inside the wrap before fully covering the hot dog.
  4. Place the wrapped hot dogs on the prepared baking sheet, spacing about 1 inch apart. Use a small spoon or toothpick to dot mustard or ketchup in the eye gap to create spooky eyes.
  5. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes or until the crescent dough is puffed and golden brown. Let cool for a couple of minutes before serving.

Notes

Keep crescent dough cold until ready to use to prevent tearing. If dough browns too quickly, tent with foil. Let mummies cool slightly before serving. For gluten-free, use gluten-free crescent dough or puff pastry. For dairy-free, use dairy-free dough alternatives. Mustard or ketchup eyes add character and are essential for the spooky look.
