These easy mummy hot dogs with crescent dough wraps are fast, fun, and forgiving—perfect for Halloween dinner. Ready in under 20 minutes with only 3 main ingredients, they’re kid-approved and endlessly customizable.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 hot dogs (standard size, such as Hebrew National)
  • 1 can (8 oz) Pillsbury Original Crescent Rolls
  • Yellow mustard (for eyes, such as French’s)
  • 1 tablespoon salted butter (optional, for brushing)
  • 1 egg (optional, for egg wash)
  • Everything bagel seasoning or sesame seeds (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
  2. Open the can of crescent rolls and separate into 8 triangles. Place on a cutting board.
  3. Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, slice each triangle lengthwise into 3 to 4 thin strips, about 1/2 inch wide.
  4. Take one hot dog and wrap a dough strip around it, starting at one end and working to the other. Leave a small gap (about 1/4 inch) between wraps so the hot dog shows through. Tuck the ends under the hot dog to secure. Repeat with remaining hot dogs and dough strips.
  5. Place the wrapped hot dogs on the prepared baking sheet, leaving about 1 inch of space between each.
  6. If desired, melt 1 tablespoon butter and brush lightly over the dough strips. Alternatively, beat 1 egg with 1 tablespoon water and brush on for an egg wash.
  7. Bake for 10-12 minutes, until the dough is golden brown and puffed. Start checking at 10 minutes.
  8. Remove from the oven and let cool for 2-3 minutes. Use a toothpick or knife tip to dab small dots of mustard onto the exposed hot dog sections for eyes.
  9. Serve immediately while warm.

Notes

Work with cold dough to prevent tearing. Don’t overwrap—leave gaps for the mummy look. Let mummies cool slightly before adding mustard eyes to prevent sliding. For parties, double the batch and prep ahead by wrapping and refrigerating up to 4 hours before baking.
