creamy viral crack dip - featured image

A creamy, cheesy, and smoky dip combining sharp cheddar, crispy bacon, and tangy ranch seasoning. Perfect for quick snacks, parties, or cozy nights in.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened (full-fat recommended)
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 1 packet (about 1 ounce) ranch dressing mix
  • 1½ cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 6 to 8 strips thick-cut bacon, cooked and crumbled
  • 2 green onions, thinly sliced
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¼ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • Optional: dash of hot sauce or cayenne pepper

Instructions

  1. Cook the bacon in a skillet over medium heat until crispy, about 8-10 minutes. Drain on paper towels and crumble once cooled.
  2. Soften the cream cheese by microwaving in 10-second bursts if needed until pliable but not melted.
  3. In a mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, sour cream, and ranch dressing mix. Beat with an electric mixer or whisk until smooth and creamy, about 2-3 minutes.
  4. Fold in shredded cheddar cheese and crumbled bacon gently to keep some texture.
  5. Sprinkle in garlic powder and black pepper, then mix gently.
  6. Cover and refrigerate the dip for at least 1 hour to let flavors meld and texture firm up.
  7. Before serving, garnish with sliced green onions. Serve with chips, fresh veggies, or toasted baguette slices.

Notes

Softening cream cheese well prevents lumps. Use freshly shredded cheddar for best texture. Cook bacon until crispy but not burnt. Chill dip at least 1 hour for best flavor and texture. Can be served immediately but chilling improves taste. For vegetarian version, omit bacon and add smoked paprika or chipotle powder. Dip is gluten-free but choose gluten-free dippers if needed. Freezing not recommended due to texture changes.
