A quick and easy summer cocktail blending fresh strawberries and basil with tequila and lime for a bright, refreshing drink perfect for gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 810 fresh basil leaves (preferably Genovese basil)
  • 2 ounces tequila blanco per serving
  • 1 ounce triple sec or orange liqueur per serving
  • 1 ounce fresh lime juice per serving
  • 0.5 to 0.75 ounce simple syrup per serving
  • Ice cubes
  • Coarse salt (optional, for rimming glasses)
  • Strawberry and basil garnishes

Instructions

  1. Prepare the glass by running a lime wedge around the rim and dipping it into coarse salt to coat. Set aside.
  2. In a cocktail shaker or mixing glass, add sliced strawberries and basil leaves. Gently muddle to release juices and aromas.
  3. Add 2 ounces tequila blanco, 1 ounce triple sec, 1 ounce fresh lime juice, and 0.5 to 0.75 ounce simple syrup. Adjust sweetness to taste.
  4. Fill the shaker or blender with ice cubes, about halfway if shaking.
  5. Shake vigorously for 15-20 seconds or blend with pulses until smooth but slightly textured.
  6. Strain the mixture into the prepared glass filled with fresh ice. Use a fine strainer for a smoother drink if desired.
  7. Garnish with a fresh strawberry slice and a small basil leaf.
  8. Serve immediately and enjoy.

Notes

Use fresh lime juice for best flavor. Gently muddle basil to avoid bitterness. Adjust simple syrup to taste. Salt rim is optional but recommended for authentic flavor. For a mocktail, omit tequila and triple sec and top with sparkling water.
