A delicious and easy-to-make glazed ham featuring a sweet and tangy pineapple and honey mustard glaze that caramelizes beautifully for a juicy, flavorful centerpiece.

Ingredients

Scale
  • Pre-cooked bone-in ham (8-10 pounds), spiral-sliced or whole
  • Pineapple rings (canned or fresh)
  • 1 cup pineapple juice (100% juice, no added sugar)
  • ½ cup honey (mild, runny like clover or wildflower)
  • ¼ cup Dijon mustard
  • ¼ cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
  • 1215 whole cloves

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 325°F (163°C).
  2. Remove the ham from packaging and pat dry with paper towels. Score the surface in a diamond pattern about ½ inch deep using a sharp paring knife. Stud whole cloves into the center of each diamond.
  3. Place pineapple rings evenly over the ham, securing each with a toothpick if needed.
  4. In a bowl, whisk together pineapple juice, honey, Dijon mustard, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, and ground cinnamon until smooth.
  5. Place the ham on a rack inside a roasting pan, pineapple side up. Brush a generous layer of glaze over the entire surface.
  6. Roast the ham for about 1 hour and 30 minutes, basting every 20 minutes with the remaining glaze. Tent with foil if the glaze starts to darken too fast.
  7. Check the internal temperature with a meat thermometer inserted into the thickest part of the ham (without touching bone). It should reach 140°F (60°C).
  8. Remove the ham from the oven and let it rest for 15 minutes to allow juices to redistribute.
  9. Slice between the scored lines and arrange on a platter with the caramelized pineapple rings. Spoon any pan juices over the top before serving.

Notes

Score the ham surface carefully to about ½ inch deep to allow glaze penetration without drying out the meat. Baste every 20 minutes to build a sticky, caramelized crust. Tent with foil if glaze darkens too quickly. Let the ham rest 15 minutes before slicing to keep it juicy. Variations include adding crushed red pepper flakes for spice or substituting honey with maple syrup for a different sweetness. Slow cooker method possible but glaze won’t caramelize as much.
