  • 2 lobster tails (about 68 ounces each; fresh or thawed frozen; wild-caught preferred)
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • Fresh parsley, finely chopped (for garnish)
  • Lemon wedges (for serving)
  • Pinch of red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Parmesan cheese (optional, for sprinkling before broiling)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with foil for easy cleanup.
  2. Using kitchen scissors, carefully cut down the top shell of each lobster tail from the exposed meat to the tail fin. Pry the shell open slightly and gently lift the lobster meat, resting it on top of the shell.
  3. In a small mixing bowl, combine melted butter, minced garlic, fresh lemon juice, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Stir until well mixed. Add red pepper flakes if desired.
  4. Brush the lobster meat generously with the garlic butter sauce, reserving some for basting.
  5. Place the lobster tails on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes until the meat is opaque and firm but still juicy.
  6. Halfway through baking, baste the lobster tails with the remaining garlic butter sauce.
  7. Optional: Switch oven to broil and broil lobster tails for 2-3 minutes for a golden finish, watching carefully to avoid burning.
  8. Remove from oven, garnish with chopped parsley and lemon wedges, and serve immediately.

Notes

Watch lobster carefully during broiling to avoid rubbery texture. Adjust cooking time based on lobster tail size (smaller tails need about 10 minutes, larger up to 18). Fresh garlic is preferred for best flavor. Butter can be substituted with dairy-free alternatives if needed.
