A quick and easy crockpot recipe for sweet and tangy little smokies, perfect for parties and gatherings. This fuss-free dish combines a balanced sauce with slow-cooked sausages for juicy, addictive snacks.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds Little Smokies Sausages (about 900 g)
  • 1 cup brown sugar (200 g)
  • 1 cup barbecue sauce (240 ml)
  • 1/4 cup honey (85 g)
  • 2 tablespoons yellow mustard (30 ml)
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar (15 ml)
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce (5 ml)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder (5 g)
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder (5 g)
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper (1.5 g)

Instructions

  1. In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together brown sugar, barbecue sauce, honey, yellow mustard, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, onion powder, and black pepper until smooth and well combined.
  2. Place little smokies sausages into the crockpot. Pour the sauce over the top and gently stir to coat all the sausages evenly.
  3. Cover the crockpot and cook on low heat setting for 2 to 3 hours until the sauce thickens slightly and bubbles gently around the edges.
  4. Optionally, stir the smokies every 30-45 minutes to keep them coated and prevent sticking.
  5. Give the little smokies a final stir and taste for seasoning. Add more apple cider vinegar or mustard if desired. Serve warm directly from the crockpot or transfer to a serving dish.
  6. If the sauce is too thin at the end, remove the lid and cook on high for 15-20 minutes to thicken, watching closely to avoid burning.

Notes

Use maple syrup instead of honey for a richer flavor or sugar-free/low-sodium barbecue sauce to lighten it up. For gluten-free, ensure barbecue and Worcestershire sauces are certified gluten-free. Stir gently to keep sausages intact. Avoid cooking on high heat to prevent drying out or burning. Sauce thickens better if cooked uncovered on high for 15-20 minutes at the end.
