A quick and easy recipe featuring juicy chicken thighs coated in a sticky, sweet, and garlicky honey sauce. Perfect for weeknight dinners or family gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.5 lbs boneless, skinless chicken thighs
  • 1/4 cup honey (85g)
  • 1/4 cup low-sodium soy sauce (60ml)
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tbsp rice vinegar (30ml)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil (30ml)
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch (8g)
  • 2 tbsp water (30ml)
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • Optional garnish: sliced green onions or toasted sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. Pat the chicken thighs dry with paper towels and cut into 1.5-inch bite-sized pieces. Sprinkle with black pepper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, and rice vinegar. Set aside.
  3. Heat olive oil in a large non-stick skillet over medium-high heat. Add chicken pieces in a single layer (cook in batches if needed) and sear for 4-5 minutes per side until golden brown and cooked through.
  4. Lower heat to medium-low. Pour the honey garlic sauce into the pan with the chicken. Mix cornstarch with water until smooth and add to the pan. Stir gently and cook for 3-4 minutes until the sauce thickens and coats the chicken.
  5. Remove from heat and sprinkle with sliced green onions or toasted sesame seeds if desired. Serve immediately with steamed rice or vegetables.

Notes

Do not overcrowd the pan to ensure proper searing. Pat chicken dry before cooking to get a golden crust. Stir sauce gently to avoid breaking chicken pieces. If sauce thickens too much, add a splash of water to loosen it. Use tamari or coconut aminos for gluten-free version. Optionally add chili flakes for a spicy twist.
